Get connected
Flitra connects to your own Mac or Linux machine over SSH. Your host needs Herdr 0.8.2 or a compatible newer version. Coding agents run on that machine and must be installed and configured separately.
- Install Herdr on your host using the official installation guide, and start your workspace there.
- Enable SSH access on your host. Check that the host is reachable from your phone or tablet through your local network or an existing private network connection.
- In Flitra, add an SSH Host with its address, SSH port, username, and either a password or an imported private key.
- Compare the host key fingerprint shown by Flitra with the fingerprint on your host before accepting the first connection.
- Open a workspace or agent from Home to enter its terminal.
Connection problems
The host cannot be reached
Check the host address and port, confirm that the machine is awake and its SSH service is running, and check your network connection. A local network address usually works only while you are on the same network, unless you have configured private remote access.
Authentication failed
Check the SSH username and password, or import the correct private key and supply its passphrase if required. Verify that you can sign in to the same host using another SSH client.
The host key has changed
Flitra stops the connection when the host key differs from the one you previously accepted. Verify the change directly on the host or with its administrator. Only after confirming the new fingerprint should you remove the saved Host and add it again.
Herdr is missing or incompatible
Install or update Herdr on the remote machine and make it available to the SSH user. Flitra does not install or update Herdr for you. See the Herdr installation guide for setup instructions.
The terminal disconnected
Check your connection and return to the app. Flitra attempts to reconnect; if recovery fails, use Reopen. Check the terminal before sending a command or prompt again, since the previous input may already have reached the host.
Remove a saved host
Open the Host selector, choose the host's delete action, and confirm. Deleting a Host removes its saved connection details, stored credentials, and associated conversation cache from Flitra. It does not delete files or stop agents on the remote machine.
